What is Nuvigil?

Nuvigil is a wakefullness-promoting brand name drug produced by the US-based pharmaceutical company Cephalon Inc and was first approved by the FDA in June 2007. The active ingredient in this Nuvigil is Armodafinil, which was developed to provide a more effective form of Modafinil.

Just like modafinil drugs, Nuvigil is eugeroic used to treat certain sleep disorders.

What is Nuvigil Used For?

Nuvigil is a eugeroic. This means it can be used to treat sleepiness that could happen with certain sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorder. It is also commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and bipolar disorder.

How Do You Take Nuvigil and The Most Common Dosages?

Nuvigil is taken as an oral tablet that comes in a variety of strengths. These strengths include:

  • 50 mg – where you get a round, white oral tablet with 205 stamped on one side of the pill.
  • 150 mg – where you get an oval, white oral tablet with 215 stamped on one side of the pill.
  • 200 mg – where you get a rectangle, white oral tablet with 220 stamped on one side of the pill.
  • 250 mg – where you get a round, white oral tablet with 225 stamped on one side of the pill.

The strength of the dose you take and when you take the Nuvigil tablet will depend on your doctor’s recommendations. However, in most cases, individuals looking to stay awake during the day will be advised to take the pill in the morning. We advise shift workers to take their Nuvigil pill an hour before they start their shift.
